Before the tour final of ~Artemis is Calling~EU Release Party~ in Essen, artist Satsuki sat down with JaME Germany to give details of his new single Artemis, as well as his new album, planned for release in spring 2016. Satsuki also spoke about his impressions of Germany, and his fondness for vampire castles.

What do you feel like doing, while touring through Europe?

Satsuki: I feel like meeting my fans. Since there are people waiting for me, I'll go to meet them.

What can you tell us about your new single Artemis?

Satsuki: Since my name is Satsuki, which means moon, and we took a photo that resembled the moon goddess, it inspired me to create this release. I also went to Greece, which was great timing for that, and there I took the opportunity to take a lot of pictures. It was like a dream come true.

Artemis is supposed to be a preview of your next album, which will be released in spring 2016. What will the new album be like?

Satsuki: It will be heavy. It will be the kind of songs where you can get excited at a live performance.

Which song on Artemis do you like most?

Satsuki: That depends on the day. But well, I especially want fans to listen to Artemis.

What music do you like personally?

Satsuki: I listen to a lot of different things … I like ambient music the most. I also listen to heavy metal, from American rock to German metal.

Which German metal bands do you listen to?

Satsuki: Helloween1. I did a cover of one of their songs when I was still in high school.

1 Helloween is an influential German power metal band, founded in Hamburg in 1984.

Do you think you will ever play in a band again?

Satsuki: Well ... it´s not been decided yet. If fate will lead to it, then I will. But right now, I’m working hard on Satsuki Aurora Feather, so I have not really thought about it. Also I have been drawing pictures and expanding my artwork. So more than playing in a band, I want to properly establish Satsuki as an artist brand.

How come you’re touring together with SANA? Is there a story behind it?

Satsuki: We both have been working on the "Japanese Beauty" image, so we have common ground there. Also, we are friends, and he’s beautiful. Me too, probably? (laughs)

(laughs) Yes, of course you are.

Satsuki: Thank you!

What do you like most about Europe, and Germany in particular?

Satsuki: I went sightseeing at Cologne cathedral, and since I love vampires, I really like that kind of Gothic architecture, which you have a lot of in Germany. I want to live in a castle. I want to live in a vampire castle! (laughs)

Why not just do that?

Satsuki: It’s really hard to find. (laughs)

Can you speak German?

Satsuki: (in German) Thank you, good afternoon ... To happily conquer a heart, we will succeed!

Wow! Where did you learn that?

Satsuki: It’s from a song—Jäger!

We heard that you look up to DIR EN GREY frontman, Kyo, a lot. Is that true?

Satsuki: When I was still in RENTRER EN SOI, we were under the same label. He taught me a lot about music and singing. He really is a great person.

That’s great. What about your future plans?

Satsuki: I will continue painting and I also want to do an exhibition. Also, there will be a tour next year, where TooWild will help me out a lot as my official agent. We will go to many different countries, again in Europe, and also to countries I have never been before. For me, as long as I can meet my fans, I think it’s great. Please look forward to it, and please cheer for me.

We will be glad to do that. Do you have a message for your fans and JaME’s readers?

Satsuki: Thank you very much for reading and for always supporting me. I love you.

JaME would like to thank Satsuki and tour promoter TooWild for making this interview possible.
