The women of BAND-MAID® have sweet looks, and dress like the cute maids who can be found in the famous “maid cafés” in Tokyo’s Akihabara district. These five maids actually call their lives “service”, and make their fans feel as if they’ve entered a maid café with the greeting “Welcome home, masters and madams!” However, their powerful hard rock musical style, which sometimes verges on metal, would shock first-time listeners expecting to hear an idol group.
This all-female rock band consists of five members: vocalist and guitarist MIKU, co-vocalist SAIKI, guitarist KANAMI, bassist MISA, and drummer AKANE. BAND-MAID® started with their musical career in July 2013. With the arrival of vocalist SAIKI the following August, the band quickly gained momentum, thanks both to their great looks and profound musical skills.
The fast-growing band released their first mini album MAID IN JAPAN on January 8th 2014, and played three one-man shows during the first year of their career. After celebrating their first anniversary with a one-man live at Tokyo’s club asia on July 31st, BAND-MAID took their next step, releasing their first single MATADOR of LOVE and PASSION on August 13th. BAND-MAID® continued to attract new fans, and made it to their second anniversary one-man live at Tokyo’s Shibuya eggman on July 18th, 2015.
Shortly before their second anniversary, BAND-MAID® made an indication of their next move by releasing a new music video of REAL EXISTENCE on their YouTube channel on June 16th.
