Yumachi & Aina, who started off as models for the fashion magazine egg that showcases gyaru fashion, a sub-culture fashion for girls in their teens to late 20s that basically features tanned skin, very feminine clothes and make-up, began their career in music in late 2009. The debut single from the duo, I LOVE... was released in Recochoku, a mobile music download site. Since then, they have been working under Crown Records and their music has been released as digital singles as well as on their first album titled QUEEN.

In summer 2010 Yumachi & Aina announced their gyaru ensemble called Shibuya GAL’s. For the group, 24 young girls were chosen from among 4,000 applicants and they raised the number of members to 48 later that year, following the footsteps of the famous AKB48. Along with producing, Yumachi & Aina are also members of their own group. Shibuya GAL’s debut song Ouenka! ‘Agepoyo!’ was released in August 2010. In November the same year the duo also had their first performance abroad. They went to Finland to perform at Tsukicon, an event in Helsinki for Japanese music and fashion. During the concert they played songs from QUEEN and also performed their new song Shiroi Koibito, which release in Japan followed after the concert, on December 1st.
