At the beginning of the 1990's whilst working on Jojo Hirohige’s label, Alchemy Records Maso Yamazaki met up with Fusao Toda. In parallel to their initial projects, they decided to mix their talents to create a psychedelic kind of music. Inspired by "flower power" and far from the violent style of Masonna’s performances or the progressive rock of Angel'in Heavy Syrup.

The first release of Christine 23 Onna was a song that was included on the 1994 compilation The Dark Side of the Brain on the Endorphine Factory label.

Their first album, Space Age Bachelor Pad Psychedelic Music went on sale two years later on the American label Insignifant Records. In 2000 Alchemy Records released their next album Shiny Crystal Planet. Their third album Acid Eater and last to date, was released in 2002 on the Midi Creative label. For its visuals, the band mainly used psychedelic or pornographic images typical of Seventies vintage and kitsch styles.

Beside its own songs, the band also plays live cover songs from other bands including Afterglow, C.A. Quintet, Cromagnons, or Tony Conrad with Faust. Since 2001, they have been playing on stage with two extra session members.

The band’s activities seems now to have been put on hold since their most recent formation. In 2007, a new side-project was formed by Yamazaki and Toda along the keyboard player Kensaku Miyaji and the drummer Akiba. Their project Acid Eater is named after the third Christine 23 Onna album.

Fusao Toda is also the manager of the Osaka based clothing and vintage psychedelic items company, Freak Scene.
