machine started in 1999 with a rather futuristic image. The band members had gained quite some fame as their bands were already successful at that time and they started with a concert at the legendary Nippon Budokan. The venue's ten thousand seats sold out in a day.

That year, they also released two albums, captain sonic tune and e.rect. After the release of their third original album, salvation D-9 in 2001, they decided to take a break in order to work with their other bands again.

In 2004, HAKUEI and Kiyoshi got together again to perform at Shibuya O-East before heading to the studio to record their next album, superb, which came out in 2005.

They held regular performances after its release, but it was only at the beginning of 2008 that a new album, BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDER, came out. Additionally, they performed at the Japan Expo Festival in Paris, France on July 4th.

For fans of machine, it's a pity that this is mostly regarded as a side-project and not as a full-time band for HAKUEI and Kiyoshi. Though the band's future plans are uncertain, the duo never fails to surprise!
