The vocalist Crossfire and bassist Swordmaster had played together in an Exciter cover band before making the decision to create an all original heavy metal group. Together with guitarist Nightmare and drummer Dragonblaster they formed the line-up of HELLHOUND. Their actual activities began in the beginning of January 2004, as the members recorded their first release, a mini album called Welcome to Metal Zone. After the band's first live performance, Dragonblaster's friend Lucifer's Heritage replaced Nightmare on the bass, making them ready to start the first native tour.

HELLHOUND may look and sound rough but their spirit is rather relaxed and good-tempered - the band is not afraid to use cliches. The debut full length album, Tokyo Flying V Massacre, was finished in 2005, but specifically released on the rather memorable day of June 6th 2006 (06/06/06). The undeniably stylish Flying V guitars have become a kind of a trademark for the band, as they were also used in the pentagram logo of the earlier mini album.

The band kept touring the stages of Japan, until at the beginning of 2008 they announced the next album was in the making. HELLHOUND will also be making their first appearance on European ground next November by playing at the 11th German Keep It True festival, dedicated to the traditional style of heavy metal.
