Momoi Halko developed a strong love for anime, video games and computers as a girl, so, upon reaching high school, she began studying PC communications. A blog of hers drew the attention of a magazine editor, and she soon started reporting and writing columns. She later began hosting idol events, voice-acting, singing and song-writing.

However, although she was active in all these fields for about ten years, Momoi only made her debut as a singer in 2001, with the song Mail Me. From 2002 to 2004, she was a part of the band UNDER 17 with Masaya Koike.

In 2004, Momoi resumed her solo career with the maxi-single Shokuzai no Rhapsody, which was featured in a video game. She also released several songs which were used exclusively for anime series and video games, many of which she contributed to as a voice actress as well.

The year 2006 brought three maxi-singles, but it wasn’t until the end of the year that Momoi released her first full-length album, a compilation called momo-i quality ~Best of Momoi~. In March 2007, she released a cover album which included a number of famous anime songs, such as those used for “Touch”, “Dragon Ball”, “Sailor Moon” and “Urusei Yatsura”. She also performed at the convention Anime Expo in Los Angeles that summer and published a book called Akihaba-LOVE. An autobiographical drama DVD titled HALKO UPDATE was released on the same day. 2007 also saw her first performance at Japan’s largest anime song concert Animelo Summer Live, and she has since been invited to return many times.

The year 2008 saw Momoi travel the world. She ventured to North America to perform at the 14th Annual Honolulu Festival in Hawaii and the Toronto convention Anime North that spring. That September also brought performances in Germany and Taiwan. She released two cover albums that year, one a self-cover album and the other a collection of personally-selected anime songs.

Continuing to build her fanbase overseas, she returned for the next instalment of the Honolulu Festival in 2009 and was invited to San Jose’s FanimeCon in May. That year, she travelled to an even wider range of conventions, visiting California, France, Canada, Germany and Russia. She also found time to establish her own label, AKIHABA LOVE RECORDS, through which she began producing other artists, and to start a live broadcast on Japanese video streaming website Niconico Douga called Momoi Halko no dokusen!! Mokomoko 60-pun.

Her latest album, Angya ~momo-i sekai no tabi~, was released on September 26, 2012, and she has also been keeping busy with radio shows, contributing to anime song compilations and voice acting into 2013.

With a diverse range of talents and a clear desire to explore the world, Momoi Halko continues to reach more and more fans with each passing year.
