The Candy Spooky Theater was founded in 2003 by Jack Spooky (comical horror voice, mischievous vampire doll) and Peggy (shameless electric bass, princess of sexual witch doll), who had previously been together in a band called Dororo. Later that year, they were joined by Zull (sound of fascination guitar, mad anatomist doll), who had met Peggy while they were both working as guest musicians for Art Marju Duchain (under the names Yuzuru and Meila.)

Their first release was the maxi single Pumpkins Scream in the Dead of Night Parade in March 2004, which introduced their weird and wonderful world to an unsuspecting audience.

In February 2005, The Candy Spooky Theater performed at their first Party Monsters Collection, an event sponsored by the band itself that also featured some minor bands. During the course of the year, they held two more Party Monster Collections, each featuring different bands. In September, their second maxi single, Wonderland, was released, followed in October by their third, Murderland.

2006 saw a lot of activity from the band, who teamed up together with Sugar and Calmando Qual for a compilation CD and a live tour. They also performed on various events together with both Visual and Goth bands and in July released another single: The Bedroom. September saw them play their first one-man live, at which they distributed a free DVD containing a PV and some live clips.

In January 2007, the band played their second one-man show, Rockin' Child's Spook One-Man Show Baby!!, where, again, a free DVD was distributed, and in March they published their first European release, the compilation Living Dead Spooky Doll's Family In The Rock 'n Child's Spook Show Baby. One of their songs was also included in the omnibus compilation Darkest Labyrinth. In May they made their International live debut with a three date US tour, after which Zull left the band and was replaced by Kiddy Skeleton.

Following a short break, they published a new single called PRINCE OF DARKNESS and in November returned to the US, where they performed at the Pacific Media Expo in Los Angeles. Two performances in Europe scheduled for December were canceled, but the band didn't give up and in March 2008 they played a number of concerts in Germany, Finland and The Netherlands. The second half of 2008 was a difficult time for The Candy Spooky Theater. The release of their new album had to be postponed due to band leader Jack Spooky's poor health, and when he had recovered, guitarist Kiddy Skeleton left the band. Fortunately, they soon found a replacement in the shape of kal Bone Jr and in February 2009 they held their official revival concert with SaTaN at Meguro Rockmaykan. On this occasion they also released a two track coupling CD with SaTaN called the haunted house, which was only available at the concert.

March 2009 saw a reunion with Zull, when The Candy Spooky Theater performed at an event sponsored by Zull's new band Silence. In May, they modeled for a photo shoot of the British horror fashion brand Kreepsville666 and played a one man live at the Maria Cuore doll museum in Shibuya. This was followed in June by a two man with emmurre and in August Jack participated in the radio show Mystery Night Tour. In the same month, The Candy Spooky Theater performed at the two day zombie event TOKYO DANCE MACABRE' S DEAD OF NIGHT PARADE, before embarking on their PUMPKINS SCREAM IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT PARADE 2009 tour, which took them to Osaka ad Nagoya and finally ended with a three man together with Art Cube and SaTaN in Tokyo.

In October 2010 the band finally released its first full-length album, SCARYWONDERLAND and resumed its live activities, which had slowed recently. At the end of the month, The Candy Spooky Theater hosted a two-day Halloweenparty at Meguro Rock May Kan, where they distributed a live-only CD with a special version of their song TRICK or TREAT. In December they played at the two-day White Ribbon doll exhibition at the Maria Cuore doll museum, for which they recorded the limited CD WHITE NIGHTMARE, which contained new versions of their songs ALICE and Nemureru mori no hanayome -SLEEPING BRIDE-. They also performed at a Christmas party at Meguro Rock May Kan.

On 2nd February 2011 the band celebrated their eight year anniversary with their MONSTERS SHOWCASE [FRANKENSTEIN] at Shibuya Chelsea Hotel. Special Guests at this event were Calmando Qual, Közi and highfashionparalyze. More live performances followed and in June they participated at the four man event GATE OF CHAOS ~Four Dark Nights~, which was hosted by emmurre. Here they sold the limited photo book "PUPPET SHOW" they had produced in collaboration with photo designer NORI which was only available at this event. In July they embarked on a three city national tour together with SUICIDE ALI and XodiacK, amongst others, followed by a brief tour of North East Japan in early October called ~Before the Halloween tour 2011~. On October 22nd they played a Halloween one man at the Maria Cuore doll museum and at the end of the month they were planning to perform together with Közi, VELVET EDEN and DJ Chihiro at Tokyo Dark Castle in Moscow, Russia, but due to organisational problems the event was postponed indefinitely. Instead it was held with the same lineup on 19th November at Shinjuku Marz. The final SPOOKYWONDERLAND SHOW 2011, which saw the band play alongside a number of musical guests, took place on Christmas eve at Meguro Rock May Kan.

The first "SPOOKYTALE" 2012 concert took place in March at the two day birthday event of Calmando Qual's vocalist Hibiki and in May and June The Candy Spooky Theater accompanied fellow dark rockers emmuree on their national tour. August saw them return to Tokyo Dark Castle and in September they performed at the emmuree SUMMER FESTIVAL 2012 at Takadanobaba AREA. On 21st October, D.K (ex. SaTaN) joined them on drums at their SPOOKY HALLOWEEN 2012, where they also sold a limited DVD called BOOTLEG 2003~2012 "SPOOKY in the TOYBOX" to commemorate their 10-year anniversary. Aside from various shows in Tokyo, they performed in Osaka in November, before sharing the stage with Közi, VELVET EDEN and AUTO-MOD at Tokyo Dark Castle~Daylight Nightmare Vol.4 on 22nd December.

The band continues to keep busy in 2013. In February they performed at an event called My Funny Valentine, which was sponsored by dieS. In March, they joined dieS again at one of the concerts of their dieS TOUR 2012~2013 DEVILS CUT † ANGEL SHARE and played at Neo † Bible-Happy Death Day, an event sponsored by Starwave Records. In April, they traveled to Sendai to perform at the Bandages Fest 2013 SENDAI and participated in a sponsored event with Art Cube and ZIZ at Takadanobaba AREA. In May and June they performed in Osaka where they were guests at a multi band event and a gothic festival. In the same month they played at the AREA 16th Anniversary "Atmosphere" at Takadanobaba AREA and in October they returned to Osaka to participate in another multi band event.

Following more multi band events in their home country, including one featuring British goth rock legends SEX GANG CHILDREN, the band unexpectedly announced in spring 2014 that they would go on hiatus. Their last live GATE OF CHAOS SPECIAL will be held on June 6th at Takadanobaba AREA.
