Vocalist Io, formerly of girl, guitarist Yuina, formerly of Grimm and Under, bassist Ren, formerly of Vishnu, and drummer Sora, formerly of CROW, met in September 2004 and formed Ichigo69 the same month. The band then recruited support guitarist Takaya, who had been in Under with Yuina.

With the full line-up in place, the band performed their first concert on October 15th at the Nagoya Heartland alongside other bands such as Sugar Trip and Babylon. They continued to frequent similar events, gaining more and more attention with each performance. On December 29th they released their first maxi-single called Kimi to boku no renai KATEGORII and ended the year with a performance at a popular event at the Takadanobaba AREA.
