Ga♂ru

Ga♂ru started in May 2003, although back then the band's name was written as girl. Io (vocals) and Yun (guitar) created the band, and Ree (drums) joined them shortly after. Miyu became the bassist of the band, but at first he was only a support member.

The band had their first, secret performance in the beginning of June, and at the end of the month they performed their first 'official' performance. After a series of concerts, they released their first maxi-single in August: Motokano which was limited to 500 copies.

They continued their live activities, and on November 25th Miyu became an official member of girl. Yukia joined the band as their second guitarist on the first day of 2004. Another single followed in March.

The band seemed to be doing very well, but then vocalist Io decided to leave and performed his last concert with the band on May 21st. It didn’t take long before the band found a replacement, and Ziggy joined as the new vocalist in June.

However, the line-up wasn’t the only thing that changed - it seemed like girl had become a completely new band. First of all they changed their name from girl to Ga♂ru, ('Garu' is the phonetic way to write 'girl' in Japanese). Next to that, their sound changed as well. Before, they had been playing upbeat rock songs, but now their music was a lot harder and was closer to metal.

The band continued to perform and released two more singles, but unfortunately they decided to disband, and performed their last concert in April in their home town Nagoya.
