Dansou (girls pretending to be boys) unit
FUDANJUKU simplified their image, dressing in cool street fashions and in different colours. This image is associated with
FUDANJUKU‘s ninth single,
Jinsei Wahaha! originally released on January 9th.
The title track,
Jinsei Wahaha!, is both lively and carefree. Shouts of “jinsei wahaha!” frame the chorus--it’s amusing as if the members are actually laughing at life. For most of the song, the members all sing in unison except for the hook before the chorus, where one member sings on 'his' own.
Jinsei Wahaha! is also being used as the opening theme for the soccer anime, "Ginga e Kickoff". No wonder it’s catchy! Fans can watch the PV via
Teichiku Entertainment’s YouTube channel.
The coupling track,
Yuki no Yoru, is relaxing to listen to, as it gives the same peaceful tranquility felt when watching snow fall. However, the Mediterranean-like, acoustic guitar-laced instrumental section almost seems out of place. In another spectrum,
Yuki no Yoru is rather polished, so much so that it could feature in a drama series.
Initially,
Senapi no Kanojo (included only on the regular edition) opens with a light but fast beat. Then the key changes to a minor key, and the members start to sing forcefully in unison. Here, the lyrics center on the confusion and pain associated with unrequited love: falling in love with your senpai’s girlfriend (or boyfriend). Listeners can likely relate to this kind of experience.
Particularly for the regular edition, these tracks show three different sides to
FUDANJUKU: energetic, calm and raging passion.
Jinsei Wahaha! just might be
FUDANJUKU’s most impressive single to date. It will be exciting to see what future releases this unusual idol unit will bring later in 2013, especially the upcoming release,
Shita wo mukaite kaerou / RIKISHI-MAN.
