Visual kei band the fool ended their second European tour Japanese Jet Boyz Override to Euro with a performance in Paris on November, 2011. After their show in Rome, Gunji, charismatic vocalist of the fool, was so nice to answer to some of our questions about the tour itself, their fans and their new album.

Thanks a lot for this interview!

Gunji: Thank you.

You’ve been touring in Europe this November. How has it been?

Gunji: The 2011 European tour has been a successful trip, thanks to the support of European fans.

Is there any funny story about this tour that you could share with us?

Gunji: In Nancy, France, we were in the hotel, and I was taking a shower. I went to Goo’s room to get the shampoo but suddenly the door of my room closed. So I was left alone in the corridor wearing only a towel.

Doing a tour outside Japan must be really challenging. Could you describe for us a typical day during your oversea tours?

Gunji: I spend my time reading books and updating the fool's blog and Twitter page, sharing news. If there’s some time left, we also go sightseeing.

How do you feel in front of a foreign audience, since they take a different approach to the band and your music, as opposed to the Japanese audience?

Gunji: In every country in the world, the support during lives from fans who love the fool’s music is something we sincerely love.

What do you think of European fans?

Gunji: I love them. I want to do more lives in Europe next year.

Why do you refer to your fans as “Crazy’s Crew”?

Gunji: Because they are people who support the crazy the fool.

On November1st, your third album Do the fool came out. Could you please explain how did this work come to life, the creative process for it and some interesting things about it?

Gunji: It’s a work that strengthens the trip into the fool's past, present and future sounds. You can listen to “crazy” tracks composed with a really peculiar sound and elegant melodies.

Where do you draw inspiration from to compose your songs?

Gunji: I am inspired by what happens in my life. I express the gratitude and the emotion I have in my everyday life, so happiness, amusement, sadness are all linked with my inspiration.

What’s the song you like the most amongst the ones you created?

Gunji: Evidence. But it changes everyday. (laughs)

Is there a musician or an idol you take inspiration from?

Gunji: LUNA SEA,B-T, Slipknot, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, UNDER WORLD, Jimmy Eat World, MUSE, KEN ISHII, The prodigy, Radiohead, Cold Play, Boom Boom Satellites, Lunatic calm, Fat Boy Slim,Maroom5,Polysics,The Used, Weezer, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, LINDBERG, KoRn, JUNO REACTOR, Incubus, Disturbed, Deftones, the band apart, tool, U2...

Could you please send a message to your Italian fans?

Gunji: To all the Italian fans of the fool: thank you for your continuing support. We will keep on doing crazy music to see you smile. We’ll come back to Italy. We will meet again. With love, and gratitude. Kiss, kiss, kiss.
