Formed officially in 1984, the group has been mentioned as a main influence for many well-known bands, such as
L'Arc~en~Ciel,
LUNA SEA,
Janne Da Arc,
Kuroyume and many others. Returning with their official members,
MORRIE (vocals),
You (guitar),
CRAZY COOL JOE (bass) and
Minato (drums), the band will share the stage with bands such as
VAMPS,
MUCC,
SID,
Kinniku Shoujotai and
cali≠gari.

Tsubasa Imai, from Tackey & Tsubasa, will release a new live DVD on August 5th. TSUBASA IMAI ☆Dance and Rock★ Tour’09 will feature footage from his concert held at Osaka Umeda Geijutsu Gekijou Main Hall on March 15th with a total of 21 tracks, plus a special CD including four brand new songs: Theme of D&R -Black boots-, Tada..., Toriko and Solitude.
The limited edition of the release will also come with an additional DVD featuring 40 minutes of special footage from the tour, plus a logo sticker and a booklet including live photos, while the regular version will come with a performance of Yumemonogatari featuring Shibutani Subaru.

Guitarist Kazune announced that he will leave Serial⇔NUMBER on August 21st, right after the end of their summer tour Otsukare Samba♪でSUN SUN SUMMER Tour-'09, set to take place at Akasaka BLITZ. Kazune apologizes for the abrupt announcement and explains that he has been having different opinions about the future of the band, and feels that he would not be able to continue with the other members in the same way. Hideaki Tokunaga announced the release of a new live DVD for July 29th. HIDEAKI TOKUNAGA CONCERT TOUR 08'-09'SINGLES BEST will feature his concert held at Saitama Super Arena on March 15th with a setlist including his most famous hits in a total of 18 tracks. The limited edition will also come with a bonus disc featuring the music video of Anata shika mienakatta, while the regular edition will come with different jacket artwork. A Blu-ray edition of the concert will also be available in stores on the same day.
On August 19th, Tokunaga will also release his second single of 2009. Hello is already being used as the CM song for Yamazaki's "Funwari Shokupan" and will also be used as the theme song for the program "Sukkiri!" throughout August. The single will contain four tracks, including the title track, the b-side Anata shika mienakatta and their respective instrumental counterparts. The limited edition will also come with a DVD contaning the PV for Hello, while the regular edition will feature different jacket artwork.

SMAP announced the release of their first single in over a year for August 26th. Sotto kyuuto, their first release since the album super.modern.artistic.performance, which came out in September last year, will be used as the theme song for the upcoming Fuji TV drama "Ninkyo Helper", starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi. The single will have its lyrics written by Asou Tetsurou and melody composed by hit-maker Kubota Toshinobu.

In addition to their major debut album DANCE FLOOR MONSTERS, set to go on sale on July 8th, the telephones have also announced the release of their first live DVD for August 26th. SUPER DISCO Hits!!! the telephones ONE-MAN SHOW!!! will feature footage from their first one-man concert, which was held in December last year at Harajuku Lafforet Museum, with a total of 23 songs.
The DVD, released as a double-disc set, will also contain four music videos and further live footage, this time from their performance at Shibuya DUO Music Exchange on May 30th 2008, the last date from their promotional tour for the album JAPAN, released in January last year.

Stairway Generation, the band's 11th single, has been used as the opening theme song for the anime "Gintama" since April this year and is set to stay on air until September. Superfly will release her first double A-side single on July 29th. Koisuru hitomi wa utsukushii/Yasashii kimochi de, her eighth single so far, will feature four tracks: Koisuru hitomi wa utsukushii, used as the CM song for "Canon IXY DIGITAL", Yasashii kimochi de, used as the theme song for Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV", a live version of Skip Beat, originally released by Kuwata Band, recorded during her performance at NHK Hall on November 9th, 2008, and lastly Late For The Sky.
Crystal Kay will release a new double A-side single on August 12th in order to celebrate her 10th anniversary. After Love -First Boyfriend- feat.KANAME(CHEMISTRY)/Girlfriend feat.BoA, as the title suggests, will feature collaborations of KANAME from CHEMISTRY and BoA, plus both songs' instrumental counterparts and also a third track titled Deaeta kiseki.
Both title-tracks will also be used as tie-ins: After Love -First Boyfriend- feat.KANAME(CHEMISTRY) will be used as the CM song of "ITOEN TULLY'S COFFE" from July 3rd, while Girlfriend feat.BoA will be used as the image song for the Japanese edition of the movie "He's Just Not That Into You", set to be released on theaters in August 1st.
Angela Aki announced the release of a new single for September 16th, the successor of her hit single Tegami ~haikei juugo no kimi e~, which came out a year ago. Though there are not many details available, Ai no kisetsu is currently being used as the theme song for NHK's morning novel "Tsubasa" and, as of July 4th, it will start to be used everyday when trains depart from the Honkawagoe Station, in Saitama.
The single will also be followed by the release of a new live DVD including footage from her concerts held at Nippon Budokan and Osaka-jo Hall last year. Other details on this release are expected to be released at a later date.

This autumn, MUCC will make their way back to Europe for an extensive tour. Amongst the seventeen tourdates, there is one UK concert, namely on October 21st at the Carling Academy Islington in London.
Although the tour is called their world tour, so far only European dates have been announced, though several in South America are expected. More information about the concerts can be found in their tour schedule.

GARNET CROW announced the release of their 30th single for August 19th. Hana wa saite tada yurete, consisting of a ballad number, will feature three songs in total: the title track, its instrumental counterpart and also the b-side Ai ni niteru.
Less than a month later, the band will also release their 7th original album. Titled STAY ~yoake no Soul~, the album, set to go on sale on September 9th, is expected to include their latest singles Yume no hitotsu, Hyakunen no kodoku and Doing all right, plus Hana wa saite tada yurete.

Acid Black Cherry will release their second full-length album, currently untitled, on August 26th. The album will feature their latest singles - 20+∞Century Boys, Jigsaw, Nemuri hime and the upcoming Yasashii uso, set to go on sale on July 29th. Like their first album BLACK LIST, it will be available in three versions, each with a different jacket cover.
The regular edition of the album will come with the CD only, plus a 42-page booklet, while the other two versions will come with a DVD. The first one will include the music videos for all four singles, as well as alternate versions, plus off-shot footage and also an interview with yasu. The other version will feature footage from Acid Black Cherry's concert held at LIQUIDROOM ebisu on March 4th with a total of nine tracks, plus footage from the album's creation with narration by Hiroaki Asai over 70 minutes.
