RIZE frontman Jesse McFaddin's Stand Up! Fund project recently launched a collaboration with the website Getstage. This collaboration is for a contest where fans can win the chance to work with JESSE on songs that will be released worldwide. For the purpose of the contest, JESSE released eleven tracks for free download and invited fans to present their own takes on them.
The "Stand Up! Fund, contrary to what its name suggests, is not a fundraising campaign, but an attempt to encourage the sharing of creativity and talent. This contest seems to be limited to Japanese fans, but JESSE has made it clear that "Stand Up!" is meant to involve people of all backgrounds and nationalities. While this particular competition deals with creating songs, the project is also not limited to the production of music. Its goal is to be a "multi-entertainment" project, including fields such as fashion, design and more.
Fans who enter the Getstage contest will choose one of the eleven songs and either add their own vocals to it or remix it. They will then upload their creation to YouTube and submit it. The winners will work personally with JESSE to complete the final arrangement and the songs will be released worldwide on sites such as iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. They will also be mentioned on RIZE's Facebook and Twitter.
The application period is from May 21st to June 10th, voting will take place from June 11th to June 30th, and the winners will be announced on July 11th.
A link to the Getstage contest page (in Japanese) can be found here.
International fans may also be interested in taking a look at the competition, as the eleven free songs are available for free download or streaming on the page, as well as their instrumental versions. They may also wish to check the page once the voting period has begun to listen to the submissions.
JESSE also recently became one of the faces for the ethical sustainability denim process, "No Water No Chemical", which is spearheaded by popular French designer Marithé François Girbaud. It employs a new method for creating denim that causes a much less harmful impact to the environment by implementing a new system for processing the material that reduces the use of water, thereby creating a conservation effect.
A comment from JESSE about the project can be found on No Water No Chemical's official site in both English and Japanese.
