The notable broadcast system NHK announced last Thursday that ZARD's vocalist Izumi Sakai will make her debut on Kohaku Uta Gassen on December 31st. Alike the concerts held in her memory earlier this year, the performance will feature video footage of Sakai performing with live musicians.
Throughout September, memorial concerts were held in the singer's memory in Tokyo and Osaka and it was recently announced that a tour would be held. A special performance will be held on New Year's Eve at the NHK Osaka Hall and broadcast live as a segment of the Kohaku Uta Gassen.
A fan selection album, ZARD Request Best ~beautiful memory~, will be released on January 23rd. The two-disc album will feature 30 songs carefully selected from the 500,000 requests via mail and ZARD's official website.
