NOA

indies - disbanded (2008 - 2019)
NOA was an emo/pop punk band based in Osaka and signed to the indie label THE NINTH APOLLO. One of the most unique aspects of their music was the way that the band's two vocalists and primary songwriters Tsumoto Aki and Nishiura Shunsuke pulled the band in different directions. Aki drew his inspiration mainly from Japanese rock bands, and his rougher voice created a more intense atmosphere, while Nishiura's boyish voice had a more mainstream appeal and brought a Western pop punk flavour to the band.

The two rarely sang lead on the same track, and their songs were usually sung either entirely in Japanese or English, meaning that NOA could sound like two completely different bands from one song to the next.

NOA went on hiatus on December 27th, 2014. The members reunited for one final show on March 30th, 2019 to officially bring the band's career to an end.
