BENI released her ninth single on September 14, ranking 49th on the Oricon Charts and has sold 1500 copies so far. She is most known for her 2004 single, Here Alone, but her ninth single is still in its early days.
The love-stricken ballad, Koe o kikasete, isn’t quite a full-on ballad but more of an r'nb infused serenade. BENI sounds like a Japanese version of Australian pop-singer Delta Goodrem in both pitch and range. She shows her vocal range and ability through gentler tones without overdoing her performance during the chorus; the whole song is one continuous, pleasant journey of sound.
The second A-side, crazy girl, is a dance number with plenty of synthesizers in the bass beat and backing track. BENI’s voice is rather strong and filled with passion in the track. Her voice sounds natural as she is not auto-tuned except for a few moments during the chorus. She sounds reminiscent of a younger Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson combined.
The single includes a karaoke version of Koe o kikasete and crazy girl.
BENI’s tenth single Darlin' will be released next month on October 12. The new release follows a slight change in her image with a ginger-tinted bob and ringlets. A short 30-second preview can be seen here.
Listed below is a “short” version of Koe o kikasete and a 30-second preview of crazy girl, both of which promote a very sexy, but mature image.

Ninth, almost tenth and still strong.
