Zy 50: MUCC

interview - 03.14.2010 16:00

The world from now on, the memories until now

MUCC has been appearing in our magazines since the first issue of Zy., released on November 1st, 2001. They performed in the memorial event of our first issue, appeared on the front cover of our fifth memorial issue, and appeared again on the cover of the memorial issue of the fiftieth issue. It has been eight years since their first appearance and they have grown remarkably, with their music being played all around the world now. Their new song Diorama will be released on December 25th, available only on the internet. In their individual interviews here we take a look at what MUCC has for us in the near future.

Tatsuro

I really feel like MUCC will change a lot in 2010, as you will play in the JCB Hall and will do your first internet release at the end of this year.

Tatsuro: As we changed our record company, our way of doing things has changed too. That includes the form of our releases and also the distribution of them. Downloads are pretty handy too. But I can never figure out how to do it, I'm old. (laugh)

Comparing CDs and downloads, is there any difference in the content or in the way you write lyrics?

Tatsuro: In my case, no, I don’t think so. I just write my lyrics like I usually do. The other members draw a rough copy of something and I just add colors, or if we were cooking it would be the seasoning. I can’t write without music. It’s great to be able to express myself like that.

Do you mean that your lyrics express what you feel or interpret in the song?

Tatsuro: Yes. And they are what I remember when listening to the song. When I write a song I really hope that it becomes a song that brings back memories for someone out there. Like "this song reminds me of such and such a time…" I have songs like that too.
