Japanese all-girl rock band STEREOPONY has announced that they are to perform at AnimeNEXT from June 18 to June 20 as a guest of honor. This female rock group formed in Okinawa in 2007 and has enjoyed much popularity overseas. Last year they performed in SXSW 2009 and received thunderous ovation. AnimeNEXT will be held at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, New Jersey.
On a related note, STEREOPONY will be releasing a new single titled OVER DRIVE. This new release is due on May 12th and will be released in two editions. The first edition will have four tracks, including the instrumental of OVER DRIVE while the other version will have a bonus DVD of the song Hanbunko which was released February 17th this year.
