Vocalist Akira "Joe" Yamanaka, who is known for both his extensive solo career and his work in the progressive rock band Flower Travellin' Band, has been diagnosed with lung cancer. He is 63 years old.
In his note left on F.T.B.'s website, Yamanaka mentions that within his 45 years of singing career he has gone through many battles in rock spirit, and now, another battle has begun. He says that he will be fighting until the last breath in order to sing in front of an audience once again.
