Kirito is mainly known for his role in the band Pierrot as the vocalist although he was also one of the band's guitarists when the band originally formed. It was only in 2005 when Pierrot went on an indefinate break that Kirito began a solo career that continued after the band's dissolution in 2006.

Arguably, Kirito's solo career sounds similar to that of Pierrot's, whether it is because of his unqiue voice or simply because he wanted to ensure that he could continue to relate to Pierrot's fans.
