In March 1998, drummer SAKURA (ex-L'Arc~en~Ciel), guitarist RYO and bassist DEN (both ex-By-Sexual) decided to make a new band. In August of the same year, TETSU, well-known as the first vocalist of Malice Mizer, joined them as vocalist. However, it wasn't until February of the following year that the band truly became active. They held their first lives at that point in time as Marisu An Sekkusu, and then changed their name to ZIGZO. Their first big concert followed in April at Akasaka BLITZ, and it was the official birth of ZIGZO, so to speak.
Their first single came out very early, and thanks to a fast growing fanbase, they performed in the same month alongside big names such as LAREINE, Gackt, and SEX MACHINEGUNS at the SHOCK WAVE Illusion '99 event. This, and four other performances at several different events, brought them even more popularity.
Right after their second single, they started their first tour called The 1st Scene ZIGZO. After this tour, their first album, Monster Music, and a video which was filmed during the tour, appeared.
Despite their growing popularity, SAKURA and TETSU weren't ready to sit back and take it easy. Both of them often worked at various radio stations with a preference for programs that played indies rock, often playing their own songs on the shows.
The following two years brought plenty of new releases and tours before November of 2001 rolled around. Their last single was Chelsea, and after its release ZIGZO announced their disbandment. They bid their fans a fond farewell with a last tour called The Last Scene ZIGZO, a nod to their very first tour.
Not long after the end of ZIGZO, TETSU started the band nil. RYO and DEN both joined test-No and then Pt. SAKURA is now a producer at Danger Crue record label, working with bands like MUCC and SID; in addition to other projects, he performs in Sons of all Pussys, Lion Heads and Tamamizu. In June 2009, Creature Creature announced two performances for which SAKURA plays as support drummer.

major - disbanded (1999 - 2002)
ZIGZO was one of the projects of ex-L'arc~en~Ciel drummer, SAKURA. Often sporting leather jackets and casual clothing, the group's musical style is difficult to pin. Always rock, they sometimes sounded very punk-influenced with rough vocals, while other songs had more of a pop-feel to them.
