biography
ONE OK ROCK was created in the summer of 2005 by Alex, Ryota and Toru. Vocalist Taka joined the band after a short while and they started playing concerts around Tokyo. That December, one of their concerts completely sold out!

ONE OK ROCK was officially put on the market as an indie band in July, 2006. This was also when their first mini-album, ONE OK ROCK, was released. They started getting a lot of attention and soon they also started selling records in foreign record shops. Their concerts in September gathered a lot of fans and in December they released a second mini-album. More than 500 people attended their first oneman live at Shinjuku LOFT; this was great news for the guys since they hadn't been around that long.

After almost two years without a drummer, Tomoya finally joined as their official drummer in March 2007. They released their first single, Naihi Shinsho, with the complete line-up in April 25. This single earned them a few plays on a nationwide radio, which gave them even more fans and also a record deal with the major company AMUSE. Their long awaited second single Yume Yume was released on July 25. The following month, their first nationwide tour started.

Throughout the next year, they continued going strong with much activity, which only increased their fanbase. However, in April 2009, that was when the band went through their first major crisis. Guitarist ALEX was arrested for touching the leg of a 21-year-old woman on a train in Kawasaki. Due to the unfortunate circumstances, a single scheduled to be released that May was cancelled indefinitely along with the opportunity for their song to be featured as the theme for the series “God Hand Teru” and the tour that was scheduled to start that April.

A month later, ONE OK ROCK announced on their website that in order for the band to stay alive, it would be best for ALEX to leave. For now, they are a four-piece group. For the remainder of the year, they scheduled another tour to run from September through November. They also announced the release of their 4th single to be released on February 3, 2010.

Being a young band as they are, there is still plenty of time for ONE OK ROCK to surprise their fans with more outstanding releases and performances, so be sure to keep an eye on them!
