biography
J began his career with LUNA SEA back in 1989, and was beloved by their fans during the band’s 10 year run.

At some point in 1997 (3 years before LUNA SEA’s disbandment), J released his debut solo album PYROMANIA. It was very different compared to LUNA SEA’s material, containing traces of hard rock and grunge. It was very well received and proved that J could survive on his own if anything were to happen to LUNA SEA.

As fate would have it, LUNA SEA broke up in 2000, giving way to many solo projects fronted by its members. Although all were successful in their own respect, J was definitely the one who got the most attention. With his bad boy antics, fiery live shows and pure, heavy-hitting party music its no wonder that J is still at it today.

J has released many albums and singles since his solo debut in 1997, and he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Each met with great commercial success and each corresponding tour practically sold out, expanding his already large fanbase.

Notable for his 5 CRAZY 5 concerts (where he plays concerts for five days straight), he never seems to get tired. And if he ever does, he makes sure to double his efforts afterwards! For example, after losing his voice during his show in Toyama on July 14, 2004, J embarked on his 2005 DIVE to the SUN tour to show fans that he was still kicking butt! He even extended the tour by two shows when the last one at Shibuya-AX was sold-out!

J also puts on New Year’s Eve shows at the Harajuku Astro Hall (a tradition for him since 2002), as well as some Christmas Eve and Day shows.

J has continued to tour rentlessly, pausing only briefly to release his first album since 2005, March's URGE. In October, he will perform back-to-back shows at the beginning of the month; four of them will be two-man events in which he will perform with bands such as ska group SNAIL RAMP and retro-rock band Merry, with the final as a one-man show.
