バービー

indies - disbanded (2003 - 2006)
barby was an indie visual kei band that was around for a few years before they disbanded in 2006. It's hard to describe their music, but in general it's a mix between pop and punk, with an unique sound to it.

Their looks are quite bizarre: from bright and colourful to dark and obscure, barby likes to try it all!

biography
The band was created in April 2003 by the members Hinata (vocals), Akira (guitar), Dainosuke (guitar), Yamaii (bass) and Kei (drums).

Although they were brand-new and hadn't released anything yet, they seemed promising and got a deal with the label Donuts Records West, a label known for supporting so-called "Nagoya Kei" bands. Just one month later they released their first maxi-single, Eye ball meeting, and changed the spelling of their name from katakana to romaji, from バービー to barby.

After the release, barby started to focus themselves on events and concerts first, although they weren’t very frequent. Then in May 2004 they released their first mini-album, Viking king, followed by another two months later.

Their next release was quite some time later. Many freaks market, their third maxi-single was released in February, 2005. On the day of the release they also had their very first one-man concert and around this time they had some more performances.

On March 29th, Hinata decided to leave the band and the remaining band members had to find a replacement for him. Yuzuki became the new vocalist not much later. He had been in various bands before, and once was a roadie for Kra. He seemed to become popular amongst their female fans pretty fast, and they fondly nicknamed him Yuu-chan, after he tried and failed to let them call him Yuu-sama.

Now that they had a new vocalist they were ready for action, and they released two maxi-singles in July and in August.

Unfortunately, the band decided to stop activities in March 2006. Currently, it seems that none of the members are active in the music scene.
