Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Tsukema tsukeru

A song about false eyelashes...who can resist this?

Following Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s success with her debut single PONPONPON and mini-album Moshi Moshi Harajuku is her second single, Tsukema tsukeru. The track is produced by capsule and Perfume’s producer, Yasutaka Nakata, so it is undoubtedly expected to be catchy.

Tsukema tsukeru’s base melody sounds as if it was played through a music box, giving the song a dainty, fairytale-like approach. The lyrics largely focus on the words tsukema tsukeru (meaning false eyelashes), with many repetitions of it throughout the song. If one word could sum up this track, addictive would be the best way to describe it.

The B-side, Kyary ANAN is cute - unbelievably bubbly! Most of the track consists of the line 'ANAN Kyary Pamyu Pamyu' and nothing else. The song itself is a Kyary anthem, of her own making! Towards the end of the track, it ties in another use of electronically modified bagpipes, first heard at the end of Tsukema tsukeru.

The third track, Cherry BONBON (Extended ver.) is of course, an extended version of the original. The dance for Cherry BONBON is a sight to see: very simple, very cute.

Tsukema tsukeru can be purchased as a single-track digital download through
iTunes Japan here or all three tracks here.

A little toned-down from Kyary’s previous single, PONPONPON, the PV features a magical, fairytale look and of course, false eyelashes (even on Kyary’s hairpiece and costume!). And watching those dancers in lion kigurumi is another plus. Enjoy!
