NEWS is a group of 8 boys from the highly successful Johnny's Entertainment agency, which is also responsible for artists such as SMAP and Arashi.

NEWS' music is the typical happy pop of a Johnny's boyband with the occasional R&B or eurobeat influence. They are a strong group, with every single having reached No.1 so far. The boys are not merely singers though - like other JE artists they are encouraged to act in dramas and host shows. A number of NEWS' members are also studying for degrees; NEWS is the only debuted group with so many members attending university. Despite having a scandal riddled year from 2005-2006 and losing two members, they are now back to performing and releasing music and are regaining their footing within Johnny's Entertainment.
