Although quite famous in the indies scene of Japan, the overseas popularity of phylia has been minimal. Starting in the visual-kei scene, phylia has since changed their style several times, from pop-rock to metal and punk.

While their continual changes have made keeping a steady fan base difficult, the band has persevered for over a decade now.
