Misono is the younger sister of J-pop singer Koda Kumi. She started her solo career in 2006, a year after the disbanding of day after tomorrow, for which she was the lead vocalist.

Though her solo career is still in its infancy, several of her singles have already had tie-ins with various video games and commercials. Only a year after her solo debut, she has already released one full album and seven singles of catchy pop-rock tunes.
