Following 1400 years of Japanese music history, Asuka perpetuates the knowledge and practice of the traditional instruments of their ancestors.

However, the group - composed of miko (priestesses), kan-nushi (priests) and gagaku-gakushi (musicians playing in a sanctuary) from a Shinto sanctuary - did not stand still with time and incorporates jazz, electro and even pop vocals in their music.
