Hirakawachi Icchome

平川地一丁目

major - acabou (2000 - 2008)
Hirakawachi Icchome was a folk rock duo consisting of two young brothers from Sado Island in Niigata prefecture. At the beginning of their career their music was mostly based around two acoustic guitars, but gradually branched into more instruments. The younger of the two, Naojiro (born in 1990) was the lead vocalist and guitarist whilst his older brother Ryunosuke (born in 1988) took care of backing vocals, guitars and the main songwriting.

Signing with Sony's label DefSTAR Records at the respective ages of twelve and fourteen, the duo then showcased their incredible talent to Japan and their popularity grew steadily until their disbandment in 2008.

Their name (sometimes also written as Hirakawachi 1-chome) is the name of the district in which they grew up.
