Since1889 was a visual kei indies metal band from Niigata that was active for almost five years before disbanding in 2009. Although they went through numerous line-up changes, their music stayed consistently heavy, yet melodic throughout their career.

Although Since1889 never had extreme visual images, their stage performances were very memorable. Whether they performed in simple black suits or white tracksuits, they always managed to make an impact on the audience with their aggressive stage presence, especially with their eccentric front-man Sugahara Kouta.
