the heiz

the heiz's music can simply be described as classic old school rock'n'roll similar to that of The Beatles and The Ramones. Shaku Keiji's raw vocals add that extra touch needed for such an old school sound. Their look is the very classy ‘60s style, complete with blazers, ties and fedoras.

Prior to the heiz, pronounced as "haze," Shaku Keiji and Watanabe Asako belonged to the Tokyo electro-rock band Milkteath and Kimura Takashi to the rock band Outside. Because the members were dissatisfied with their results in those bands, they came together for numerous jam sessions and in 2008 created the heiz.

Their second year of being together was their most ambitious. Taking a chance, they had an extensive tour in the USA from September to December 2009 with a total of 47 performances. In November, they released their self-titled debut album the heiz, which was distributed throughout their tour through Tokyo No Records, a USA label.

Currently, the band is having sporadic shows in and around Tokyo. Even though the heiz hasn't been around for long, the energy they express during their lives is something everyone must see.
