In the late 90s, IZAM perfectly illustrated the "visual" in visual kei, passing for a sweet, pony-tailed, round-eyed and pouty-faced girl after deciding in high school that he wanted to dress and wear make up like a girl.

However, following SHAZNA's disbandment in 2000, IZAM adopted a smart, more stylish look and embarked on a solo career, his music a combination of soft ballads and upbeat tracks with occasional rock, electronic, bossa nova, rap and other influences.
