Rock band Remioromen have announced that as of February 1st they are on hiatus

The band began activities in 2000 and since then have been gaining popularity in Japan. In December 2011 vocalist Fujimaki Ryota decided to start solo career, with his first solo album Hikaru o Atsumete set for release on February 29th. Fujimaki's moves towards a solo career, as well as musical differences between the three band members, resulted in the decision to go on hiatus. Whether or not Remioromen will resume their activities in the future is currently undecided.

Along with Fujimaki's solo career, the other two members of Remioromen will also continue their careers in the music industry. Bassist Maeda Keisuke plans to be active as a producer and composer, while Jinguji Osamu will focus on playing as a drummer.

The band thanks their fans for their constant support. A full message regarding the hiatus can be read on Remioromen's official site.
