Tetsu is best known as the founder and bassist of the popular Japanese rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel. While the band was on hiatus, however, Tetsu pursued a solo career under the name TETSU69.

In 2005, he also performed as the bassist in Creature Creature, a project of DEAD END's vocalist MORRIE. He would change the name of his solo project again in 2009, re-branding himself as TETSUYA, his given name.

His compositions are typically more pop-oriented, in contrast to L’Arc~en~Ciel guitarist Ken, whose musical approach is distinctly heavier.
