Church of Misery is a doom metal band with music that is reminiscent of 80's metal bands like Black Sabbath and St. Vitus.
Their songs are often about serial killers like Charles Manson, Ted Bundy or Charles Whitman. On many of the track titles the name of a certain serial killer appears after the song name, indicating the serial killer mentioned in the lyrics. Besides these songs, the band is also well-known for cover versions of popular metal songs like In a gadda da vida by Iron Butterfly.
At their concerts, the band is known to begin jams that last for long lengths of time. Some of these jam sessions even appear on CDs and last as long as 20 minutes. Perhaps most unique is their use of Australian guitarist, Tom "Satan" Sutton.
