Zy 49: SuG

interview - 01.22.2010 13:00

WELCOME TO OUR ××× PARTY....

It's been a very busy time for SuG. First, they have just got over the hurdle of a member change and have grown much bigger. With their new drummer shinpei, they will release their second CD, P!NK masquerade., the second part of their serial release, on November 18th. Their eye catching PV and distinct front and back jacket include various elements including pop, gothic, cute and horror, giving us high expectations for what the band will do next.

This is shinpei's first time appearing in Zy. What prompted him to join the band?

Takeru: Well, I had known him before, but when I’m asked why…I suppose it’s because I didn’t know any other guys....

(All burst out laughing)

Chiyu: It was a natural elimination of the competition.... meant in a good way, of course (laugh) We thought there was no one who really matched us. Then we thought about who we knew and found there was someone we knew and I think it just flowed from there.

Takeru: When I said we wanted to ask him to support us, he was about to leave his band. So we let him support us for a while until we had the confidence that he was the right person.

What did you think when you were asked, shinpei?

shinpei: I'd played with Takeru in a band before SuG started, and when we stopped the band and went in different directions we said we'd like to play together again someday, so I was very glad. I was very quick in telling him that I wanted to support them.

How did you feel when you finally got to play together?

yuji: It was like “This is music....”

Takeru: We all felt that.

yuji: I think our songs became more musical. That’s the first thing I felt..

Chiyu: He has knowledge that we don’t, so the possibilities of the group increase.

yuji: He is the only person who seems to be musical.

Takeru: It was like “What have you been doing up until now?” (laugh) Maybe, he is the only one who can read scores.

yuji: I can only read tab scores. (laugh)

What did you think, masato?

masato: When he played the drums and we actually played together, I think our music became better, and when we talked more, I felt he was a person we could get along with.
