Shuji to Akira was a musical unit formed by Yamashita Tomohisa of NEWS and Kamenashi Kazuya of KAT-TUN in fall 2005. The band was created to promote the television drama "Producing Nobuta", which the duo would be starring in that October.
The band name was chosen after the characters that Kamenashi and Yamashita played in the drama, Shuji and Akira respectively.
