Elm, founded in 2008, started their actual activities by performing at Holiday Shinjuku, together with a few other newcomer visual bands, like Lad and Vesuvio, on 19th February 2009.
As for the band members, familiar musicians are hidden behind the renewed stage names. JEKYLL was formerly known as Tetora, vocalist of Kamikaze Boys, and Neku, known as Hiroki, played in the band k@mikaze.
Elm began their promotion by uploading videos on YouTube, which is a rather new strategy among indie visual kei bands. Their very first single, sold only at concerts, was released in September.
Fresh visual kei group Elm is rapidly gaining popularity. The band plays danceable rock music with a style inspired by the colourful world of the circus.
Due to the macabre atmosphere of their live performances, one can even sense some connections between the band’s name and the famous horror movie "Nigthmare on Elm Street".
