MUNEHIRO - SUPER WOMAN

SUPER WOMAN shows a new side to MUNEHIRO's usual reggae sound.

MUNEHIRO seems to have grown quite fond of releasing two-track singles in the past two years. SUPER WOMAN was released in December 2008, and it is the fourth single of this fashion in a row.

MUNEHIRO is known for her upbeat, powerful party tracks but also for her passionate ballads that suit her husky voice very well. For the title-track SUPER WOMAN, it seems that a mix of these elements has been made: the track is upbeat enough to be played in clubs, yet it has no aggressiveness at all and instead has a warm, romantic atmosphere. Despite most of her work having an urban or reggae flavor, this time it's rather pop-like and very catchy.

The second track, on the way, does have a close to aggressive, powerful sound to it. The intro is sung pretty much a cappella; MUNEHIRO's voice is only accompanied by some synthesized strings humming along. Then, it changes it into a fast-paced track with quick, staccato synthesized sounds that add even more spice to the song. The only downside seems to be that after a while, it unfortunately gets rather monotone and repetitive.

Of course, the two obligatory karaoke versions of each song have been added as well.

It seems that with SUPER WOMAN, MUNEHIRO is steering slowly into another direction. With pop-sound incorporated in the title track and the lack of a prominent reggae sound, one can only wonder what MUNEHIRO will have in store for her future releases!
