xTRiPx

xTRiPx is an oshare kei band with a bright, colourful visual style that is always well-coordinated. Their music ranges from upbeat softer rock to music with heavy metal tones. However, the band also uses hints of hip-hop and dance in their music, to give subtle variations to classic oshare kei rock.

xTRiPx formed on July 8th, 2003 (originally called ×トリップ×) and soon after held their first live in October that year. In June 2005, xTRiPx released their first official mini-album, Toumei. The following April, bassist Rucchi left the band. After guitarist Shougo and replacement bassist Yukine joined as official members, the band decided to change their name to xTRiPx.

xTRiPx’s next official release, snow white butterfly,was not until March 2007, however this was followed by several consecutive single releases: Red drug stranger in April, Sadistic purple lies in May, [re:birth in the stripe] in June and finally Blue well in the air in July. Unfortunately that year bassist Yukine announced his departure from the band due to musical differences, though he continued with them until September 21st that year. The band’s original bassist ruchi rejoined xTRiPx on October 1st.

xTRiPx contributed to the compilation Shock Edge’07 with their song Rem., which was released on October 10th. Soon after, the band released their single raspberry on the Lips in December, and in March 2008 Haru iro Plastic, followed by their second mini-album release siesta.

On New Year’s Eve xTRiPx held a one-man live where they sold their first demo created with their new line-up Dreamcatcher, which was limited to 100 copies. Their next single, [-Re:evolutioN-], was released on March 25th, 2009 followed by Digital'a Nature in August that year. xTRiPx released their latest single, Innovation[re]isM, on February 3rd, 2010, which reached number seven on the Oricon Indies Singles Charts.

Unfortunately, xTRiPx's bassist ruchi left the band after their live on April 8th, however, soon after this a new bassist joined, Chobi. xTRiPx will also be releasing a single [double] on June 9th.

Even though the band did not seem to show much activity in the first years after their formation, xTRiPx have shown their potential by giving regular releases and so have gained a wide fan base.
